Being an active member of a community is an important part of the transition to adulthood. Below are local activities which are inclusive and/or designed for individuals with disabilities. ​

Girls Night Out (GNO) is a social skills and self-care program for girls and young women with autism and other related developmental disabilities.
Extra Ordinary Troupe (EOT) is a group of joyful dancers who meet once a week to practice dance skills, rehearse choreographed numbers, and share each other's passion for
Dance, Music and Friendships.
EOT is also a traveling performance group who often makes appearances at community events and performs at our
HOUSE OF DANCE Spring Recital.
There is a one-time $25 registration fee and
NO MONTHLY FEES.
We offer FREE yoga classes taught by a certified yoga teacher for teens with physical or mental disabilities, those on the spectrum, and neurodivergent teens. Yoga is for EVERYONE. No prior experience is necessary!
Team INSPIRE welcomes athletes between ages 4 and up to join their team. Athletes compete and perform with their peers, working to grow their cheerleading skills and their self-esteem.
First Act Theatre Arts celebrates and cultivates the uniqueness and talents of individuals through its educational programs and family-friendly performance opportunities. They provide a safe space for children, youth, and families to join together in building skills and community resulting in personal growth and lifelong friendships.
Spinning Tree Theatre provides professional-level theatrical opportunities for Kansas City metropolitan area young artists of all abilities to collaborate in creating, rehearsing and performing plays and musicals.
The mission of Heartland Therapeutic Riding is to improve the quality of life of those with disabilities and diverse needs through Equine-Assisted Services. We are committed to changing lives, one ride at a time!
Blue Valley Recreation offers adapted and integrated leisure activities for youth and adults with special needs. Blue Valley Recreation also organizes the Blue Valley Blue Streaks, a local Special Olympics team.
Kids of all abilities have the opportunity to play sports with Y Challenger. Through baseball, basketball, bowling, flag football, soccer, tennis and fitness, ages 4-30 with special needs can stay active, learn teamwork and build confidence.
Sensory Enhanced Aquatics is a swimming and water safety program for children with autism spectrum disorder. Working in partnership with USA Swimming, participants in the program learn a life-saving skill and physical activity that supports long term health. Each session consists of eight, 30-minute lessons. Lessons can be individual or small group and are designed for children 4 - 17.
The Whole Person’s Adaptive Sports Program is working with adaptive sports programs across the metro in order to provide diverse and inclusive play opportunities at competitive and recreational levels for people with disabilities living in the greater Kansas City area.

Inclusion Connections offers classes focusing on healthy living, art, music, theater, and dance.
Miss Amazing is a national self-esteem movement for girls and women with disabilities. They offer two programs: Miss Amazing AMPLIFY and Miss Amazing EMPOWER. Miss Amazing AMPLIFY teaches self-advocacy skills to girls and women with disabilities age 5+. Miss Amazing ADVOCATE is a leadership development program to empower girls and women with disabilities to drive changes.
